FAQs

  • An IEC helps students and families navigate the college admissions process with clarity and confidence. From course and profile planning to building a balanced college list to crafting compelling applications and making final decisions, we provide individualized guidance every step of the way.

  • School counselors are incredible resources—but they’re often responsible for hundreds of students. As an IEC, I work one-on-one with a smaller caseload, which allows for more time, deeper conversations, and a fully personalized approach based on your student’s goals, strengths, and needs.

  • I work with students as early as 9th and 10th grade to explore interests, plan coursework, and think intentionally about activities and engagement. Starting early allows us to build a strong foundation, but it’s never too late to begin.

Many families also come to me junior year, and we’re able to dive right into the college search and application process with structure and support.

Depending on my availability, I also work with seniors on application strategy, essay development, and finalizing college lists.

Planning ahead helps make the experience more manageable—and yes, it really can be enjoyable!

  • Not at all. My goal isn’t to chase rankings—it’s to help students find schools where they will thrive. That could mean a small liberal arts college, a large public university, or anything in between. It’s about personal fit and academic match, not prestige.

  • I work with students of all backgrounds, interests, and academic paths—and I truly believe there’s a great college fit for every student. My goal is to help each student uncover their strengths, clarify their story, and present themselves with confidence throughout the admissions process.

  • Students often say they feel more organized, more understood, and less overwhelmed. We help them tell their story in a clear, authentic way—so they feel confident that their applications reflect who they are and what matters to them.

  • We work as a team. Parents stay informed and involved while giving students the space to take ownership of their journey. We help keep communication flowing and reduce stress on both sides.

  • You absolutely can—and many families do. But for those who want expert guidance, structure, and peace of mind along the way, working with an IEC can make the process feel less stressful and more intentional. Think of it as a coach, a strategist, and a calm presence rolled into one.

  • College is a significant investment—and making thoughtful, informed decisions now can have a lasting impact. Working with a college counselor is a way to support your student in finding a school where they’ll thrive academically, socially, and personally. It can also reduce the chances of transferring and help keep students on track to graduate on time.

I offer comprehensive and essay packages as well as 90 minute strategy sessions, depending on your family’s needs. Payment plans are available for any package.
